The person behind the page
My name is Tom Housden. I am an author and actor. I live in a village called Otford in Kent, which is the perfect setting for my writing. I love going out for walks, which for me is a good way to get inspiration, no matter the genre that I write about. Ideas pop into my head at all times, so I carry a notebook around with me.
I have Cerebral Palsy. Basically, all it means is that I am a bit wobbly! I don’t let it get me down though. Embrace Life is my motto. After all, it feels good to do something that you love. My autobiography is called I Know How To Fall Over!
There is a story in everyone – that most people just don’t write them down. So, my advice is to write them down. And, remember, whether writing for pleasure, or if you want to try and make a career out of it, enjoy! Never give up – life’s too short!
I am learning all the time – I am still doing a mixture of face to face and online courses. I do know my craft, much more than when I started, but there is always room for improvement, no matter at which level you are.
I have been doing Creative Writing courses for seven and a half years, which I will outline in the site. Also, I am campaigning against the government culling all the writing courses at the local adult education centres just to save money, and concentrating on courses that aim to get people back into work. Bad decision! What ever happened to lifelong learning?
